Our Cran-Lemon Wedding: Just One More Day!

After our Brooklyn rehearsal dinner on Saturday night, it was time to head to Long Island on Sunday. We had just one more day to go! It ended up being a busy day so I'll share the highlights:
  • Since the changes to our guest list stressed me out, I went through it with Steve one last time and made sure the recently added guests had table assignments. We emailed the revised seating list to our DOC and made copies to drop off to the maitre d at our venue that afternoon. We couldn't make extra escort cards but we told the added guests where they'd sit, and our DOC and maitre d had the assignments on hand in case anyone needed help. I have to say, our venue rocked it when it came to handling the last minute changes. On wedding day, everyone found their seat and I didn't need to worry about a thing.
  • That morning, my mom and I had one last appointment with our florist who was handling our bouquets and boutonnieres. We got to preview everything, which was awesome. If you have the opportunity to see your flowers before wedding day, I highly recommend it! I loved my bouquet but ended up making a last-minute change to the bridesmaid bouquets and the guys' bouts once I saw everything together. Basically, some of the flowers looked too pink compared to the burgundy dahlias in my bouquet, so the florist made a last-minute switcheroo, which I was grateful for.
Want to see my bouquet? Here's what it looked like the day before the wedding. So cran-lemony and pretty!

And here's a shot of the bouquet taken by our photographer on wedding day:

  • When my mom and I got to the hotel (the Inn at Fox Hollow), we dropped off the out-of-town bags we'd put together for the guests staying in the suites we'd blocked. My mom got the colorful bags from HomeGoods and we filled them with water bottles and various snacks and candy from Costco. We also included a welcome letter with extra information for our guests. They were simple and our guests appreciated them.
The OOT bags as we filled them. We then topped them off with some tissue paper.
  • That afternoon, the bridesmaids and I had an appointment to get mani/pedis at a local nail salon. I don't have any pics but it was relaxing and fun to hang out with the girls. :) By that point, all the stress I had previously felt was gone and I just felt happy and excited.
  • It unfortunately wasn't in our budget to have a big welcome dinner for our out-of-town guests, but thanks to our hotel, we didn't have to! The hotel has a complementary buffet dinner every night for hotel guests. We told everyone to arrive by six and we congregated in the hotel's dining area. Besides the main area, there was another smaller dining room that wasn't occupied so we ended up taking it over. It worked out so perfectly! The food was excellent (giving our guests a *taste* of what was in store the next day) and it was wonderful to have our loved ones in one place. I was too busy mingling to take pics, but here are a couple:
Me and Steve with his grandfather and mom. The hotel even had wine and beer at the dinner, which was perfect for our guests!

Lovely bridesmaids :)
  • After eating dinner and hanging out with everyone for a while, the girls and I retired back to our room to go to bed early. Steve and I said our last "good night" to each other as an engaged couple in the hallway outside of my room. The girls and I watched an episode of Bridezillas while we got ready for bed (they thanked me for not being one, haha) and then at 10pm, we went to sleep. Of course, I couldn't fall asleep that easily because I was so anxious/excited so I listened to my iPod until I drifted off.
The next day I would finally become a Mrs!

Catch up!

  2. Your bouquet is beautiful! That's so great that the hotel offered complimentary dinner with beer and wine - I've never heard of that, though there is a free happy hour at the Westin near my work that my co-workers and I like to take advantage of, haha. I'm glad you had a busy but happy day before you tied the knot!

  6. Yay! Love the bouquet pics. Stews did a great job - I love that place.

P.S. - we totally took over that side room too for both weddings I attended there. It's great isn't it? I really like the table area by the fireplace too.
