How I asked the girls.

It didn't take long after getting engaged to decide who I wanted to be my maid of honor and bridesmaids. When the time came to ask, it was just a matter of finding a special and memorable way to pop the question.

My MOH and I have been friends since we were in the 8th grade, and we're both really sentimental and creative. So, I decided to write her a poem and used PowerPoint to create a collage of photos of the two of us to use as the background. It was five stanzas in all and described the course of our friendship. The last stanza was:

Now I'm getting married
And what I want to say,
Is will you be my Maid of Honor
For my wedding day?

Even though we both live in the same city and get together all the time, I decided to mail it to her to add to the surprise. She had no idea it was coming and it was so exciting to get that phone call that she accepted the position!

Then, it was on to the bridesmaids. Neither of them live locally, and I didn't want to call to ask them, so I decided to go the mail-route as well. Rather than write a poem, I used something I had read on the knot as inspiration, went onto snapfish and had two photo cards made, with a photo of me with each girl.

These two girls and I have also been friends for years and we always end our emails to each other with LYLAS (Love You Like A Sister). To play off of that, I wrote the following message in the cards:

They loved them! And now I have the greatest maid of honor and bridesmaids. Lucky me :o)
