Oh, yeah. How it happened!

If I'm documenting this whole experience, I HAVE to write about how Steve proposed! So, here's the story. Steve's birthday was at the end of January and on 2.7.09 he planned a "fake" birthday dinner for himself at a Mexican restaurant in NYC called SueƱos. Through a friend, Steve knew the owner of the restaurant and I knew he was in touch with her because of this birthday dinner. In all, 9 of us had dinner together and we had our own private area of the restaurant.

Appetizers, dinner and drinks happened like in any other birthday dinner. And then it was time for dessert. The owner brought a cake out. I was thinking, hm, who brought the cake? I did NOT notice the signature blue Tiffany's box perched on top, and I barely registered what was happening until the cake was put in front of me and I read "Will You Marry Me?" in the frosting!

My first words: "ARE YOU KIDDING ME????"
Steve made me stand up.
He got down on one knee.
My hands shot to my mouth and I started to cry.
My MOM and aunts walked into the room.
Me: "WHAAAAAT?"
I started to cry even more.
Steve asked The Question.
My eyes were blurry so I barely saw the ring.
Finally, I got myself together and said YES!
Everyone clapped, including those other people in the restaurant. Oh yeah, we were in our private area but it wasn't THAT private.
Then, celebration!

Sigh. It was awesome. Everyone had been in on it. I was completely shocked. I never would have thought I would've wanted to be proposed to in front of other people, but it was perfect. Really, the best night.
