Bachelorette Weekend! (part one)

After my lovely bridal shower, it was time to get ready for the bachelorette festivities. My friends headed back into Manhattan after the shower. Meanwhile, I helped my mom and aunts bring everything from the shower home, changed out of my dress and grabbed my overnight bag, which was filled with things MOH L had told me to pack. My bachelorette party was a complete surprise so all I had was instructions from MOH L. She had told me to meet at the information booth just after 6pm at Grand Central station, where I'd be escorted to the next destination. It was so mysterious! I spent the train ride into the city wondering who would meet me. Would it be MOH L? Would all of my girlfriends be there? Did they hire a stripper to come meet me? (I really hoped not!) I seriously had NO idea what to expect.

When I got to the station, I spotted my friend A waiting at the booth. Relieved that it wasn't a sketchy stranger "escorting" me, I followed A out of Grand Central and we started walking uptown. As we walked, A tried to confuse me by pointing out random places and telling me that's where we were going--a deli, liquor store, etc. But since I was carrying my stuff, I knew we must be heading to a hotel.

And right I was! Fifteen minutes later, we walked into the Midtown East Marriott. I had no idea who would be in the room when we got upstairs. When we knocked on the door, MOH L opened it, revealing a room filled with my other two bridesmaids and couple of my high school friends. They had decorated the room with pink streamers and "Girls Night Out" napkins. It was so sweet!

We had some time to kill so we chilled out and watched some of 500 Days of Summer on HBO. Then it was time to get ready. The girls only told me that we'd be getting dinner. I put on the dress I bought for the occasion, and opened this bag to see what fun accessories it contained...

I decided to wear the sash, tiara/veil AND boa. I'm only doing this once, so why not?

MOH L and I

I felt like a pageant queen. Ha!

Once the seven of us were all dressed up and ready to go, we walked a few blocks to the Mexican restaurant, Sinigual. A few more friends met us there so we ended up being a group of thirteen at a large table in the back.

Pretty lanterns in the restaurant

A chef making guacamole in front of us...it was so yummy!

We ate (besides the guac, I had lobster enchiladas...yumm...), chatted, drank cocktails (mmm mojitos), and took pics. Then MOH L gifted everyone a little bag of fun stuff--lip gloss, candy, fake blinged-out rings, and glow stick bracelets!

Before we left, we took a group shot and got ready to head to our next destination...

What was our final stop of the night? You'll have to wait until my next post to find out!

  1. Fun stuff, and I love your dress! Looks like your friends were nice and avoided the classic atomically-correct bachelorette party gear . . . mine, not so much! Can't wait to see what happens next!
