Our Printer Has Landed!

The printer we ordered to print our invitations and other paper stuff has arrived! We decided to buy the Epson 810 All-in-One Printer because it prints high-quality color photos, can print double-sided, is wireless and has a manual feed tray for all paper sizes. These features should make it easy for us to print professional-looking invites on card stock that we'll have pre-cut. I let Steve, the tech-savvy one, deal with the set up...

Ha, Steve even smiles when putting a printer together...

Ta da!

It even has a touch screen!

Steve's installing the software as I'm writing this, so I'll give you a review once we have a chance to start printing. I'm getting excited about our invitations now! We're pretty much done designing them but we still have to order the paper. Once the printer is all set up, we'll test-print on the sample pages we ordered from Blue Dot Paper Shop and make our final decision. I hope having a printer like this will make the process go easier, but I know this will still be very time-consuming and probably stressful at times. I hope that after all this effort we're putting into them, we're happy with the final product.

Next, I'll show you the inspiration for our invitation design...

  2. We bought a new printer for our invites too. Crazy how it still works out cheaper! Can't wait to see how they turn out.

  3. Woo-hoo, you know I am waiting for this product review! Can't wait to see/read about how your test pages work out. I love the sleek design, and it's so cool that it's wireless.

  4. We got our invites printed and cut at Staples for only $35 - which was less than I spent on new ink for our Epson (word of advice - stock up on off-brand ink NOW - you will need it and Epson ink is SO expensive) - and the print job was great but I was absolutely heartbroken by how shitty a job they did cutting them. I nearly cried. Our invites were soooo pretty and they lopped off the top of the trees, etc.!
I kind of wound up wishing we had just gotten new ink for our printer, but we probably would have gone through two full cartridges since our invites are so graphics heavy.
I also highly recommend printing the addresses directly on the envelopes - it looks so much nicer than labels and hurts your hands so much less that calligraphy!

  5. @PartyPlannerGal: I have you covered! We're going to test-print this week and I'll let you know how it goes :o)

@Ellie: Oh no! That's terrible! This is why we're planning to buy pre-cut paper to try to avoid cutting the paper after it's been printed. Thanks for the tip about Epson ink--we'll definitely find the best deal and stock up. Our invites aren't SO graphic heavy (but there is a little) so we'll just see. As for the envelopes, great idea. My handwriting is fine, but I can't write in script and calligraphy is not really in our budget. I'm excited to get started but I can tell that this process is going to take a while!

  6. I got a printer a while back and then some paper got stuck in it and broke something in there. Good thing I had bought the coverage for it and was within my year. I got a brand new one from HP, free shipping and everything and since the model was discontinued, I got the updated touch screen version.

I'm sure yours is going to work fine. I hear only great things about Epson.

  9. I stumbled onto your blog looking for an after-prom dress (FYI, your blog comes up when you search 'cranberry colored dress' on Google Images! Woo!) and even though I'm 17 and completely uninterested in the wedding thing, I've got to say that making a blog about it and posting as much as you is an awesome idea! And from NYC, no less! Wow! I feel so glamorous just reading this, haha.

This is a really sweet blog, though! And I mean genuine sweet, not sweet like the slang term... in any case, I wish you good luck! I've totally favourited this 'cause it makes for some good reading! I've tried to blog every now and again and just failed.

Congratulations on your engagement and (upcoming?) nuptials! I hope your big day turns out wonderfully, and it looks like it will due to all that planning!

  10. @Nikki: Aww, you're too nice! Thanks for checking by blog...I'm glad you like it! Have an awesome time at your prom! And, if you like to write, you should try blogging again. I had a blog in college and it's so fun to look back at what was going on with me at that age. :o)
