I'm back from my BFF/maid of honor L's bachelorette party weekend and we had such a great time! I'll tell you more about it and will post a few pics once I upload them from my camera this week.
Meanwhile, as soon as I got back on Sunday, I immediately started stressing because I feel like the days are counting down waytoofast and I have so much to do. Now that we're in the double digits (90 days as of today), I'm feeling super overwhelmed about everything. I'm sure the other Summer and Fall brides are feeling the same way...
Well, on to the subject of this post--our picture booth! Our photographer offers this service and I'm really excited that Steve and I are able to afford it. Having our photographer handle it will cost us more than doing it ourselves, but it's still a lot less than the $1500+ that photo booths run for. Ours will be the same basic set up as DIY booths--fabric backdrop and a camera with a remote--except an attendant will stand by the camera to show our guests how to shoot their pics and encourage them to be goofy. I know we could spend less money by setting it up ourselves, but one thing I've realized during this wedding planning process is that sometimes, it's worth spending a little extra money for my sanity. And my sanity comes in the form of certain things being taken care of for me so I don't have to worry about it.
I posted this picture booth slide show video from our photographer in a previous post, but here it is again in case you missed it:

SO MUCH FUN! We'll get all the images on a disk, so we'll be able to share them with our guests after the wedding.
I asked our photog if we could bring our own fabric backdrop, since I'd rather not have it be boring black. He said that was totally fine and he let me know what size the fabric needs to be. When my mom and I hit up the NYC garment district in a couple of weeks to buy fabric for the groomsmen ties she's making, we'll also buy cheap fabric for this. I hope we can find something that works with our cranberry-lemonade color scheme!
Then I just have to get a few props. I'm going to see if I can borrow some stuff from my theater friends (boas, etc.) and I'd also like to get an empty picture frame and chalk boards.

I'm really excited that we're having this at our wedding and I hope our guests have fun with it too!

"sometimes, it's worth spending a little extra money for my sanity"
ReplyDeleteAmen, sister!
This is such a fun idea! We thought about doing a photobooth, but then decided against it in the end because of the cost. But I’m all for spending extra and skipping DIYs when it saves you time and stress. I made that choice in a ton of areas!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Looking forward to seeing the pics you get from this!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a ton of fun! We're actually thinking of hiring a company to have a similar photo-station setup. It's slightly cheaper than an official photobooth, and better suited for the larger crowd we're going to have because 10 people can jump into the shot if they want. Your guests are going to have so much fun! Lucky you for knowing people in the theater business to cash in on their props :)
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! So much fun! The empty frames are my fave prop!
ReplyDeleteI highly encourage the picture booth and love that you are getting an attendant as well! Props are a must for sure if you want the guests to get goofy for you :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I am all about spending a little extra in order to save your sanity and time!
