At this point, Steve suggested buying a custom stamp from Staples. Besides handwriting our return address (which I considered but decided against), this was the only option left. So I went to Staples, put in an order for a stamp and picked it up the next day. They didn't have the font I had downloaded and wanted to use, but I used Lucida Calligraphy and it turned out nicely. It set us back $25.03, which isn't terrible, but just annoying because we literally can only use it for this project. We're moving in March so we won't have this address for much longer!

After this issue was resolved, I started to think of a way to spice up our envelopes. Our cards are black and white, so with our white envelopes and our black return address, I thought it would look somewhat boring. Especially since we do have a color scheme picked out and it would be good to incorporate it somehow. I didn't have the time or energy to deal with envelope liners (at least for this project) so that was out. I thought of finding a pen in our cranberry color but when I was at Staples, the pens were either too red or too pink.
Then I thought of rubber stamps! I've seen other brides stamp their envelopes so I went online and looked for craft stores in NYC that sell stamps. The Ink Pad in Greenwich Village popped up, and it was perfect. It's advertised as the only NYC rubber stamp store, and when I went over, the little shop was filled with nothing but rubber stamps. You name it, they have it. Flower stamps, animal stamps, tree stamps...they even have stamps that say "save the date." After browsing for a while, I settled on a couple of designs. The best part--they had a ink pad in a cranberry color! $40 later (overpriced but worth it, I think) and I had two ink pads and four stamps to work with. I used two of the stamps on our envelopes and they look great!
Here were my supplies:

When I do the big reveal this week, you'll see how it all came together!
As for our website, Steve found a solution on how to publish the site so it works on MACs and PCs as well as various browsers. We're sooo close to being done with this project. I can't wait to move on to the next task!

I love the flourishes! Can't wait to see the final product!
ReplyDeleteI used stamps on my STD's...I think they're cute and certainly not too expensive.
