This weekend, I got to see my dress for the first time since I ordered it back in July. I didn't actually have a fitting, because the person I made the appointment with hadn't realized my wedding isn't until October. My fittings will start in August. In the meantime, I got to try on my actual dress, which was nice. I went into the appointment feeling nervous but I LOVE it, and my shoes look really great! I love how when I lift my dress a little off the ground, you can see the pouf of the flower clips. They also match the color of my dress exactly. The lady who has been helping me with my dress even asked where I got them, so she could look into offering them at the store!
The one thing I'm still torn about is the veil. To wear a veil or not to wear a veil? On the one hand, they complete the bridal "look" and are very pretty. On the other hand, they don't all go with hair flowers, and I just haven't found a veil I love. I don't want to wear a veil simply because I should so I'm weighing my options. I have plenty of time to make this decision, so in the meantime, I'm going to look for some veil-spiration, if you will.
First up, brides without veils. Is a woman still a bride without a veil? I think so! A veil isn't the only thing that makes a woman a bride, which is evident in these these photos:

I am sort of torn about wearing a veil or not either. I have short hair, so for me to have a major up-do just wouldn't feel like myself. I do think the veil completes the "bridal look" and I kind of feel bare without it, but I know if I would wear the veil I would only wear it for the ceremony and then take it off so it seems kind of pointless!
ReplyDeleteSoooo, I am obviously not getting married, but I have thought about this a lot. As you know, I've been planning my wedding for a couple decades now. haha. I have never really wanted to wear a veil. I don't know, it's just never appealed to me. I think it would take literally THE MOST beautiful veil in the world paired with the perfect dress for it to sway me. Point is, you are DEFINITELY a bride without a veil, and I personally think hair flowers are prettier! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure on a veil or not, but I ordered one on Etsy for $10 just in case I decide I want one.
ReplyDeleteYou can most certainly be a bride without a veil! My gown has a lot of lace going on in the back, so I think I'll either wear a birdcage veil or go veil-less with a hair flower. You'll know whether a veil is right for you - and like happynappybride said, you can find great deals on veils on etsy just in case . . .
ReplyDeleteI was definitely going to wear one til I got my dress on the other day with it-- and the colors don't match. Ugh. If I can't dye it to match, I may go without.
ReplyDeleteI am planning on wearing my veil for the ceremony and slipping in a hair flower for rest of the evening.
ReplyDeleteNo veil for me! I'll be rocking the hair flower.
ReplyDeleteI am also a no veil bride! I think teh great collection of pictures you've put together illustrate how "bridal" a bride can look without a veil. Plus, you have so many more options for hair style and hair flowers.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't worry about what is "bridal," it's your wedding and "bridal" is what ever you want it to mean.
Just found you through Perpetual Party Planner and your blog is so cute! Congrats on the upcoming wedding!
ReplyDeleteI was just married a couple of weeks ago and I did not wear a veil. Instead I got a super cool feather flower fascinator from a very talented Etsy seller and it perfectly fit the theme of my destination wedding.
Good luck finding something that works great for you!
I am ot wearing a veil for my wedding - I think you can look just as "bridal" with or without a veil - it is all personal preference!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm rockin' a mantilla veil . . . can't decide whether to wear my hair down or up though. My veil is finished now (!!!) so when I pick it up, I'll have to play around a bit. I think a bride is a bride -- rather, a woman getting married is a woman getting married, regardless of what hair accessory she decides to wear. And, we can all attest to the fact that the possibilities are endless!
