Couples Negril. Ya Mon.

This time last year, when I was on Spring Break from grad school, Steve and I took a week off from work to go to Negril, Jamaica. It turned out to be an "engagement-moon" because it was a little over a month since we'd gotten engaged. Steve had actually considered proposing in Jamaica, but thought it might be too obvious and expected. He was sort of right. While I wasn't entirely sure when he was going to pop the question, I had a sense it was coming and did wonder whether it would happen during our Caribbean getaway. I was completely caught off guard when he got down on one knee during his birthday dinner a few weeks before!

In Negril, we enjoyed sunsets on the beach...

Wrote cheesy messages in the sand...

Chilled out..

Celebrated our engagement with our drinks of choice (Jamaican rum cream on ice for Steve, and champagne for me!)...

Hung out by the pool...

Played on the beach...

Snorkeled almost every day...

Created romantic photo-ops...

Contemplated a destination wedding and practiced for our big day...

Watched a few more sunsets...

And, of course, ate lots of delicious food!

It was an amazing trip!

The reason I'm telling you all this (besides my vain desire to share these pics...just kidding! ;o)) is because the resort we stayed at, Couples Negril, is a great honeymoon spot! It's all-inclusive (meaning, all food and drinks--even alcohol--are included in the price, as well as many activities). Also, as the name suggests, the resort is only for couples! The benefit of this is the resort is designed with couples in mind, which makes it more romantic! It was great for us because we went in March and hadn't wanted to end up at an all-inclusive resort with other college Spring Breakers. If there were college students there, they were with their significant others so it wasn't a crazy scene. This allowed us to truly relax and enjoy the private beach and surroundings.

The rooms were nice, the food was excellent and the service was superb! Besides what you saw in the photos, we also went on a Catamaran one night (one of the all-inclusive activities) and went with a group to Rick's Cafe (which actually WAS a Spring Break-type atmosphere so we were glad we were only there for a couple of hours!) The excursion off the resort cost a little bit of money, but every activity we did on the resort was all-inclusive. We even participated in a couples massage session, where we learned how to give each other back massages! They also have a full spa with all of the services you'd want. We were being cheap at the time, so we didn't use the spa, but next time we go, I definitely want us to get massages in the tree house on the beach!

Overall, we loved the trip and if we weren't getting married during the Caribbean hurricane season, we very well might be going back to Couples Negril for our honeymoon. Couples also has three other resorts in different parts of Jamaica.

After talking to some other couples on the trip, we got the sense that many of them return every year. Some couples were there in groups, which looked really fun. We even met a couple who had gotten married there! You can check out the website for more information on their vacation (and honeymoon) packages. If you decide to go there, I don't think you'll be disappointed!

*All photos by me.
*I'm not associated with Couples Negril and they have no idea that I'm writing about them. I just wanted to share information about this resort, since we loved it so much and it's a great place for newlyweds (or just regular ol' married people, lol) to visit! I know we'll be going back sometime for sure!

  2. Wow, looks like such a wonderful time! The couples-only/no kids thing is important to me, so this post is very helpful. We still haven't decided where to go on our official honeymoon (which will be 8 months after the wedding), so I'll definitely remember Couples Negril when those discussions begin :)

  5. Your pictures are beautiful!

We had the MOST amazing time at Couples Swept Away. I mean out of this world Perfect! We went in 2007 a year after we started dating and have been lots of places since but no where has compared. I second Couples as a fantastic choice :-) Only concern is if our actual Honeymoon can measure up! ;-)

  7. Ok I dont' mean to judge but I really want to know as a young lady how do you trully feel about doing all this before being married? Living together already and taking trips? as if on a honeymoon??....Why did you or anyone else on this post decided to live with their mate before marriage? I'll just say it am a Christian and I don't believe it's right to live together or sleep together for that matter before being married...am really not trying to put you on the spot you and your fiancee LOOKSSS BEAUTIFUL....but am just really shock the way us as young people are living our lives these days...What happen to waiting until marriage?

  9. LOVE Jamaica! I've been a bunch of times, but never with Mr. B. I was thinking the new Secrets in Montego Bay, but now I'll check out Couples too. We can't go for our honeymoon since we're Sept too so I was kinda bummed. But there's always the 1yr anniv. ;)
