Fitting, Fabric, Fashion...

I had my first dress fitting last weekend, but since I haven't revealed my dress yet, I can only say that it went well and I can't wait to try it on again when it's not too big! I brought all of my accessories with me (hair flower, earrings, shoes, etc.) and everything looked great. And--I got a veil! Any long-term readers of my blog know I've been torn about whether or not to wear a veil (catch up here, here and here). I tried a few on during the fitting and decided to go for it. The bridal shop had a simple one that goes well with my dress and is only $80. I even tried it on with my hair flower and they work together! I'll wear the veil for the ceremony and will break out a different accessory during the cocktail hour and reception. You'll have to wait until after the wedding to know what that is!

What I can show you is what Steve will wear at our wedding. I haven't spoken much about the groomsmen but they'll be wearing black suits of their choosing with white shirts. My mom is making ties in a silk fabric that matches the bridesmaid dresses. A few weeks ago, my mom and I hit up the NYC garment district to find the perfect fabric.

To set himself apart, Steve will wear a skinny black tie over a white shirt. He isn't into the white tie on white shirt look. A few nights ago, Steve put everything on and gave me a little fashion show.

Doesn't he looks spiffy and straight out of a J. Crew catalog?! Swoon! I can't wait to marry this man :)

  7. He looks very very spiffy! I love it...so antsy to finally get to see you in your gown!!! And glad you're going with the veil. I borrowed mine from a friend and only wore it during the ceremony but was so glad I did. A must for a bride at some point during her day :)
