My Dress: The Ceremony Look

In this post, I talked about the day I bought my dress. (The abridged version is: I ended up loving a dress unlike any other dress I had previously been interested in and purchased it during my first ever dress appointment.) I knew I wanted something simple without beading or crystals, but I thought I wanted a lace gown and perhaps something with straps of some kind. The dress I ended up with was a simple silk-satin strapless gown with ruching on the top and a sweetheart neckline, by designer Mikaella.

{personal photo} The day I bought the dress. The sample dress was white but I bought it in champagne.

{personal photo} My actual dress once it came in, before fittings.

Luckily I didn't experience any wedding dress regret (though I did stalk the Internet for pictures of brides wearing my gown...you know you did that too!) I did debate whether or not I should wear a veil (read here, here and here). During my first fitting, I ended up finding an affordable veil I liked and decided to wear it during the ceremony.

My mom lent me her pearl necklace (which became my something old and borrowed) and I also had my hair flower, which actually worked well with my veil. Here was my ceremony look (all personal photos taken during my second fitting):

Here you can see the broach which came with the dress

Here are a few guest photos from wedding day:

I absolutely loved my dress and I'm so glad I went with the veil for the ceremony. It was really pretty and definitely made me feel like a bride. I even took the majority of our pre-ceremony photos with it.

As for the reception, since I would no longer be wearing the veil, I wanted to wear something extra. So I bought another accessory that added some whimsy to my look. I'll share that next!

  1. I love your dress! You looked so so pretty in it! The sweetheart neckline and rouching is great! Exactly what I looked for in my wedding dress. I also didn't want anything with beading, crystals just something simple and classic. :)

  2. Beautiful, sassy and classic all at the same time. I love your gown, especially in the champagne color! I was on the fence about wearing my veil until about three minutes before our ceremony, but I'm glad I decided to go for it in the end.
