Autumn! Pumpkins! Brooklyn!

Steve and I love autumn, pumpkins and we especially loooove Brooklyn! So it made sense that our engagement shoot with Jorg Windau incorporated all three! Yesterday we had our photo shoot with Windau and it was crazy fun! CRAZY! We took pictures right in our neighborhood. There were pumpkins (of course), a cobblestone street, some trees, sprinkling leaves, a few props, perfect lighting, and lots of laughing. I've been raving about Windau just based on his portfolio but I know I'll be talking him up even more once we see our photos. He did everything to get the best shot, including laying down in the middle of the street and enlisting the help of a couple of passersby. His enthusiasm and creativity rubbed off on us and we felt so comfortable and relaxed. I can't want to see the pictures and share them with you!

I'm also excited to see the photos because Steve and I are in the midst of designing our wedding website from scratch, and we want to include some of our favorite pictures. I'll share our website design process and some screen shots once it's live.

While we're on the subject of photography, Steve and I have decided to have a picture booth during our reception! I love the idea of a photo booths at weddings, and I especially love the idea of the "faux-to" or DIY booths I've seen all over the wedding blogosphere. Basically, instead of renting a photo booth which can be pretty expensive, some couples have their own "fake" booth with a backdrop, a camera on a tripod and a remote so guests can snap their own fun photos. There are many ways to do it and some couples also include props, like mustaches, boas, etc. (Click here and here for some examples.) Steve and I were definitely into this idea because we love pictures and this would be a great opportunity to get some hilarious ones of and with our guests. We contemplated how we could create our own booth, and even considered just using our digital camera and buying the rest of the supplies.

But then Windau posted this slideshow on his blog:

Um, SIGN US UP! For an additional fee (which is still less than renting an actual booth, though admittedly more expensive than if we completely do it ourselves), Windau can set this up for our reception! We think the extra expense will be worth it, especially because the pictures will be professional quality. It'll be something fun for our guests to do during the reception besides get their dance on, and really, how fun are these to look at? I already have some props ideas in mind.

Side note: I realize my posts lately have all been pretty positive and stress-free. I don't know if it's just because we have so much time, or because of the attitude I've adopted to just enjoy every moment, but so far planning has been pretty wonderful! I really feel like every decision we've made really reflects us, and we haven' done anything that hasn't felt right to us. There have been a few stressful moments here and there but overall, I'm really loving this process. And I think that's how it should be. Wedding planning has actually become my getaway from the stresses of my regular life, if you can believe it. I hope I feel the same way as we get closer to our wedding!
