With this ring... (part 1)

You know the engagement story, but I haven't really shown you my ring! Here's the scoop: months before Steve popped the question, we were walking on 5th avenue in Manhattan and decided to stop into that big store that sells jewelry in pretty blue boxes. You know the one, right? It was an impromptu visit, but we thought we'd peruse the engagement ring floor. At this point, we knew we were going to eventually get engaged, but on that day, we were just having a little fun. I loved looking at all of the sparkly rings (and boy, do they sparkle in that place!) and after trying a few on, I quickly discovered that I wanted a ring that wasn't too big, but that was really sparkly.

Steve took my preferences to heart when he returned to Tiffany's months later and purchased Tiffany's Lucida cut engagement ring. The Lucida square diamond is patented by Tiffany, so no other jewelry stores have it. I really love it! It's the perfect size for me, it sparkles like crazy and it reminds me of the night Steve proposed and the love I feel for him.

Here it is:

And here are some photos I took of it, Anne Ruthmann-style. (If you're looking to take a picture of your engagement ring, her advice is great!)

Oh, and my resizing experience was pretty sweet, too. We got engaged on Saturday 2.7.09 and I dropped it off to be re-sized during that week. I got a phone call that it was ready to pick up on 2.14.09, Valentine's day! And because it was Valentine's day, and we were so excited and giddy to be there, even perusing the wedding bands for the both of us, the nice associate brought us glasses of champagne and heart-shaped Tiffany-blue cookies! Champagne + cookies + new engagement ring that fits = priceless :o)

Next in the ring series: shopping for wedding bands, and Steve's eco-friendly pick...
