You've Got Email

Steve and I went to three weddings over the summer and we received save-the-date emails for two of them. One of them looked like this:

If you've been reading my blog, you might remember this couple from their hilarious slide show video!

This image was embedded into the body of the email (like when you get emails from J. Crew, etc.) so I didn't have to open an attachment to see what it was. I immediately clicked through to their wedding website and read up on all the details of their wedding. So convenient! I starred and archived this email in my Gmail so it was super easy to find when we needed to book our hotel and train tickets.

So this is our plan. Design a save-the-date image with our picture, wedding website and other appropriate details, and embed it into the email to our guests. It'll probably match our wedding website and will definitely incorporate our cranberry lemon color scheme.

I've been fawning over the save-the-date designs by Minted so I'm using these as further inspiration:

Pretty, no? I especially love the first two. I will share what we come up with once this baby is emailed out!

One thing I haven't mentioned is that we're going to have to print a few save-the-date cards for our non-computer-savvy guests (my grandfather, for example). We're going to buy some (hopefully recycled) cream card-stock and print just enough for those guests. But since most everyone has an email address, we shouldn't have to make too many.

This means I'll have to make my first crafts store trip as an engaged woman. If only NYC had a Paper Source...

  1. We did e-save the dates and used pingg.com to do it. Can't remember if they embed the card into the email but its free and you can upload your picture and customize your invite. Check them out
